More Defections
Either new Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin is incredibly smart or incredibly stupid.
My guess is it's the former.
Today it was reported that offensive lineman Darris Sawtelle and quarterback B.J. Coleman quit the team. That brings the total to nine after defensive tackle Donald Langley, safety Demetrice Morley, tailback Lennon Creer, receiver E.J. Abrams-Ward and offensive linemen Preston Bailey, Ramone Johnson and Darius Myers left earlier in the spring.
Getting rid of players off a team that went 5-7 in 2008 isn't such a bad thing.
It does, however, put more pressure on Kiffin and his staff to put together a solid recruiting class, especially at quarterback and on the offensive line.
Based on early results, they'll do just that.
Also, this puts more of an onus on the Vols to stay healthy this season.
If both don't come true, Kiffin will look incredibly stupid.
